Rules of Conduct

Last updated 12 August 2026 · Azurite Solutions LLC

Starfire is a shared world. These rules exist so that it stays a good one to be in. They apply everywhere the game reaches: in the world itself, on every chat channel, in character and account names, and in tickets you send us.

The short version: do not be the reason someone else stops playing. Almost everything below follows from that.

1. Treat other players decently

Not allowed, in any channel, tell, name or description:

In-character conflict is part of the game and rivalry is welcome. The line is the person behind the character: if you are aiming at them rather than at their character, you have crossed it.

2. Names

Character names should fit a fantasy world. No names that are offensive, that impersonate staff, that advertise something, or that are deliberately confusing to type or address.

We may rename a character that breaks this rule, without charge and without notice.

3. Play the game as a game

Not allowed:

4. Real-money trading

Do not buy or sell characters, accounts, items or in-game currency for real money outside the official store. There is no way for us to protect you in those trades, they are the single most common source of account theft in games like this, and accounts involved in them will be closed.

5. Advertising

Do not use our channels to advertise other games, servers, products or services. Mentioning another MUD in conversation is fine; recruiting for one is not.

6. Staff

Do not impersonate staff. Real staff will never ask for your password - not in game, not by email, not on a ticket. Anyone who does is not us, and you should tell us about it.

Follow reasonable instructions from staff in the moment. If you think a decision was wrong, appeal it afterwards through support rather than arguing it in a public channel - you will get a better hearing and so will everyone else.

7. How we enforce this

We aim to be proportionate. Most problems are a misunderstanding and end with a conversation. Where more is needed, the options are roughly in this order:

  1. A warning.
  2. Removal from a channel, or a forced rename.
  3. A temporary suspension.
  4. Permanent closure of the account.

Serious cases - sexual content involving minors, credible threats, account theft, payment fraud - skip straight to closure, and we will involve law enforcement where appropriate.

Purchases are not refunded when an account is closed for breaking these rules. See the Refund Policy.

8. Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, email support@starfiremud.com with your account email and what happened. We will look again properly. We do not discuss the outcome of action taken against one player with another player.

9. Reporting someone

Email support@starfiremud.com with the character name, roughly when it happened, and what was said or done. A copy-paste of the text is ideal. Reports are confidential - we will not tell the person who reported them.

10. Changes

We may update these rules as the game grows. Material changes will be announced in game and on the news page. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the current version.
