The web client will not connect
The web client needs WebSockets, which some corporate and school networks block. If the page loads but nothing ever arrives:
- Try a different network - a phone hotspot is the quickest test.
- Disable browser extensions that block scripts or connections for the page.
- If it works on your phone but not your work laptop, it is the network, not you.
I keep getting disconnected
Short drops are usually the network rather than the server. The web client reconnects on its own and puts you back where you were. If it happens constantly on wifi, a wired connection or a different network will usually settle it.
If you were disconnected mid-fight, your character stays in the world briefly - so log back in promptly rather than assuming you are safe.
“Logged in elsewhere”
Someone signed in to that character from another connection, and the older one was closed. If it was not you, change your password immediately and contact us.
The text has strange question marks in it
You are almost certainly on telnet, which is a plain-text protocol - the game deliberately
sends only basic characters over it. If you are seeing ? where punctuation should be,
it is a display quirk rather than corruption, and it does not affect anything you type.
Colours are missing or wrong
In Mudlet or another client, check your client’s colour settings first. Over plain telnet, colour depends on your terminal - Windows’ built-in telnet is limited here, and PuTTY or Mudlet will look considerably better.
Mudlet: the package did not install
The server offers the package automatically as soon as Mudlet connects, and it needs Mudlet’s package auto-install to be allowed. If nothing appeared:
- Download the package from the How to Play page.
- In Mudlet, open Package Manager and choose Install, or drag the file onto the Mudlet window.
- Reconnect.
Reinstalling replaces the old version safely, so it is always fine to try again.
Mudlet: the map is blank
The map draws the floor you are standing on and redraws as you move. If it is empty, walk one room in any direction. If it stays empty, reinstall the package - an interrupted download leaves the scripts half-loaded.
My character is stuck and will not move
Try stand first - you may be resting, sleeping or sitting. If you are in a fight, you
have to flee before you can walk. If none of that frees you,
open a ticket with your character’s name and what you were doing.
Something else
Contact support and tell us what you did, what you expected and what happened instead. Your character name and roughly when it happened help a great deal.
